Bryan Kolk received a Bachelors of Music Education and Masters in Double Bass performance from the University of Michigan. His student teaching placement was with Alan MacNair at Troy High and Smith Middle during the winter of 2008. After college he moved to Seattle where he taught in several area school districts, served as Assistant Conductor to the Everett and Bainbridge Island Youth Symphonies, performed as principal bass of the Northwest Symphony and the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, and managed the international Marrowstone Music Festival. He returned to Michigan in 2013 to teach at Caledonia High School, following the retirement of his first orchestra director Pete DeLille. In 2015 he moved to Troy following Alan MacNair's retirement.
