Welcome Message

Welcome to Smith Middle School!  We are excited to have you as part of our Smith Knights community.  I am proud to serve as principal for a school with a long history of academic excellence and ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming and caring environment for all students. 

We have a dedicated staff that works to create engaging learning opportunities for your child every day.  We pride ourselves on continuing to grow and develop as educators and are focused on providing a world class education.  In Troy, that means prioritizing the learning of all individuals, empowering our students to connect their learning to the world around them, attending to the social, emotional, and physical well-being of our community, and investing in educational opportunities for all learners from pre-k to college and career.  We are excited about what we have to offer here at Smith, and I also want to encourage your child to get involved in our athletic teams, clubs, and the variety of school events happening throughout the year. 

An important part of building a positive school community is partnering with our families.  We have a strong Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that offers a variety of volunteering opportunities and other ways to support our students, teachers, and school.  We also hold a variety of concerts, the Festival of Cultures, athletic events, our Celebration of Learning, and our parent-teacher conferences – which are all great opportunities to connect with and support our learning at Smith.
