Duane Losey (Science, grade 6 and 7) is a “Troy Boy,” having been born and raised here, and has actually been affiliated with the Troy School District for all but six years of his life.
Mr. Losey attended Troy High School, Boulan Park Middle School, and the ‘Little Red Schoolhouse’ (a.k.a. Poppleton Elementary) part of the Troy Historical Museum (no, he is not that old).Mr. Losey continued his education at Oakland University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and at Wayne State University, where he received his master’s degree. His teaching career started in East China at St. Clair Junior High before coming to Troy and teaching at Wattles Elementary and now at his home, Smith Middle School.Mr. Losey’s family has a lot of history in the city. His grandfather, Charles Henry Losey, was one of the founding fathers of the City of Troy, serving as its first judge. His father, Chester, attended Big Beaver High, which was the first high school in Troy. In total, there have been twenty-seven of his relatives graduate from Troy Schools over the last fifty-some years.Mr. Losey serves the District outside the classroom on various science and technology committees, and also as a coach of track, basketball, and wrestling at Smith. He is also currently a coach on the Troy Colt football staff where, in 2000, he was selected Assistant Coach of the Year by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association.In his spare time Mr. Losey enjoys just ‘hanging out’ with his lovely wife, Laura, and their two children, Justin and Kristen.
We will be traveling to Rochester West Monday, 10.3 for competition. Athletes should have their white game jersey and gold socks!
